Apex Hotel in Dundee Evacuated After Chemical Leak Scare
Over 100 people were evacuated from the Apex City Quay Hotel on Friday due to an alarm in the hotel’s swimming pool was set off.
The alarm went off at 6am, with most guest still asleep in bed.
Staff showed guests to the hotel car park before moving them to a different area further away.
Guests were kept outside for about an hour while firefighters with breathing equipment evaluated the swimming pool. No one was injured during the incident.
Police kept the area sealed off for around two hours before declaring the area safe.
A spokesperson for Scottish Fire and Rescue said that the chlorine alarm had been triggered due to a fault with the equipment.
A spokesperson for Apex City Quay Hotel said: “Earlier this morning guests were evacuated from their rooms as a precaution following an emergency alarm on the premises.
“We have worked with the emergency services to determine the cause of the alarm and ensure the safety of all guests.
Everyone has since been allowed to return to their rooms and the hotel is operating business as usual.”
