Irvine Moor Fireworks Display License Rejected by Council

North Ayrshire Council’s licensing committee has rejected an application for a firework display that would’ve taken place over Irvine Moor this year.

The proposal was put forward by Thomson Event and Co, who attended as specifically arranged meeting on Monday with the council.

The committee rejected the plans over concerns for public order and safety. Likening the event to a similar display in Kilmarnock which attracted 30,000 visitors, the council believed there had not been enough preparation regarding traffic management and fire safety from Thomson Event and Co.

The event company have accepted the outcome and are now looking to work with the council to ensure the event can go ahead next year.

They said: “We understand the decision and have spoken to representatives from the Council and Police Scotland. They have been very helpful with their advice.

“We hope to meet much earlier next year to assess the best available options for an event of this scale in Irvine.”
