Leeds Chef Named Chef of the Year


Mark Baber, owner of Wood Fire Dine has been named pizza chef of the year for his gluten free and vegan pizza; ‘Millennial Special’. Baber claimed the prestigious award in London at the PAPA Awards on November 21.

The pizza utilises vegan goat’s cheese, butternut squash and vegan Cumberland sausage as its toppings. Judges commented that Baber’s gluten free base was “perfect, as good as the real thing’. It will be added to his restaurant’s menu next year.

Wood Fire Dine is located on Commercial Street and is only two years old. It prides itself in its traditional methods using hand-made dough and wood burning oven.

Baber said that the award was the best day of his life.
