The owner of Castlehill has closed the legendary restaurant blaming “tough trading conditions”. The restaurant had been struggling to find a new owner and eventually closed due to the problem.

Owner Adam Newth said: “It is heart-breaking to lose Castlehill.

“Trading in this inconsistent business environment we find ourselves in in Scotland is tougher than ever, and despite good numbers and very good reviews thanks to the incredible team, Castlehill has not been able to ride the storm of uncertainty and sadly a decision to close the doors has been made.

“We have tried our best to find a new owner and indeed hoped we would find one in time, but sadly that has not been the case.

“We of course understand the incredibly unfortunate timing and the impact it will indeed have; we sincerely apologise for any inconveniences this may cause, we hoped so much for a different outcome.

“We would like to thank our customers and our suppliers for your support, and the Castlehill team for their dedication and professionalism.”

He assured that anyone with December reservations would be contacted as soon as possible and promised they would be accommodated in his Tayberry Restaurant.
