20-Year-Old Scottish Hospitality Business Aims for Record Year

Surgeons Quarter Ltd, a prominent name in Scotland's hospitality industry, is celebrating its 20-year milestone and looking forward to its most successful year yet

Based in Edinburgh's Old Town, the RCSEd's commercial enterprise is projected to reach £12 million in income by broadening its range of offerings, which include conferencing, events, and hotel services.

Surgeons Quarter, which was founded in 2003, currently offers ample space for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and is among the city's most substantial performance facilities.

The introduction of Surgeors Quarter Travel, a travel agency service, by the company took place in the year 2020, targeting RCSEd Members, Fellows, and the wider audience.

Scott Mitchell, Managing Director, expressed his pride in reaching this milestone, attributing it to the dedication of their team: "Our people's determination ensures we continue delivering an exceptional experience."

Sustainability efforts include EV charging ports, plastic-free rooms, and partnerships with Ecologi.

Since 2013, Surgeons Quarter has retained the Gold Green Tourism Award for 15 consecutive years.

The organization supports its staff by adopting their ideas through the voluntary committee SQ Cares.

General Manager Mark McKenzie, with a decade of experience, spoke fondly of his journey from an industry newcomer to leading the team at Surgeons Quarter.

Recognized as a Living Wage Foundation employer since 2023, Surgeons Quarter exceeds the required minimum wage contribution.
