In a heartfelt message shared on social media this evening, renowned Scottish chef Billy Boyter announced his decision to sell The Cellar in Anstruther

Boyter expressed gratitude for the past decade spent leading The Cellar and acknowledged that it was time for him to move on.

"Something of an icon in these parts, this restaurant is tucked away through an arch on a narrow side street." - The Michelin Guide

The restaurant, located in a picturesque Scottish fishing village, has been a local gem for over 30 years, previously run by acclaimed chef Peter Jukes who passed away in 2013.

Having served as head chef at the esteemed Number One restaurant in Edinburgh, Boyter took on The Cellar's mantle and brought it back to life in 2014.

"After a lot of thought and consideration, my family and I have decided it's the right time to sell The Cellar. It's been an amazing 10 years and I'm so proud of what we've created in our time."- Billy Boyter

He preserved the name and continued the eatery's proud culinary heritage, offering a menu that showcased seasonal Scottish produce and locally sourced ingredients.

In his statement, Boyter thanked the local suppliers who had supported him throughout his tenure, as well as the countless guests who had become cherished friends.

Patience was requested of individuals who had questions concerning deposit or voucher refunds, with promises that solutions would be provided as soon as possible.

The Cellar's menu continues to reflect Boyter's commitment to utilizing memories, seasonal Scottish produce, and locally foraged ingredients.
