Diageo Opens New Visitor Centre and Gardens for Glenkinchie Distillery

The inauguration of a new multi-million pound distillery and garden attraction marks the beginning of a £185m investment in Diageo's Scotch whisky experiences.

Diageo says that the seeds are sowed to help spur future whisky tourism in Scotland, including a unique new multi-million pound distillery next door and the garden's visitor attraction near Edinburgh.

Glenkinchie Single Malt Distillery in East Lothian underwent a major redesign following an £185.000 investment in Scotch whisky experiences from Diageo.

Ramsay Borthwick, Glenkinchie Distillery Manager, said the site will provide people with an 'will give people a thrilling first taste of the new visitor experiences we are creating across Scotland'.

The site will also include a new global attraction Johnnie Walker Princes Street, which is scheduled to open in Edinburgh next summer.

The new visitor experience is being enjoyed in the storage buildings in the distillery, where guests will be "on a journey through Glenkinchie's heritage"

Barbara Smith, Diageo, formally inaugurated the New Experience, with a tree ceremony to complete the garden and represent the future growth of Scottish whiskey as well as tourism.
