HIT Industry Award Winner 2019

On Thursday 28th March, HIT Scotland celebrated its 25th year as an industry charity at their annual HIT Industry Dinner at the Hilton Glasgow, where Jeff Bland was named as 2019’s Industry Award Winner.
Jeff Bland is a Michelin starred Chef at Restaurant Number one and the Executive Chef at The Balmoral Hotel, though his influence on the industry goes much further than that.
Following a comment his mum once made to his careers advisor about how great his Sunday morning scrambled eggs were he decided to go after the culinary profession, training at Bradford Technical College and becoming a rising star in Northern England and Scotland for the next twenty years. Jeff became sous chef at The Gleneagles Hotel and found great acclaim as Executive Chef at Cameron House Hotel throughout the 1990’s before joining The Balmoral in 1997.
Dedicated to raising the standard of cuisine in Scotland, Jeff judges key competitions and is Chair of several hospitality associations. He has also trained with hundreds of chefs and has always put people forward to activities and opportunities that will help them with their own development, showing his strong passion for learning and innovation.
