London's Renowned Caravan Restaurant Group Expands to Manchester

Monday, March 11, 2024

In a significant move outside London, the acclaimed Caravan restaurant group has announced its arrival in Manchester's vibrant St John's neighbourhood

Known for their all-day dining concept and speciality coffee, Caravan will be opening their largest site yet in this northern city.

A substantial 10,000 sq ft venue accommodating up to 200 visitors offers two all-day eating spaces, a bar section, a secluded dining room complete with a turntable and audio setup, two open-air terraces, a coffee shop corner, and an on-site coffee roasting plant.

The inspiration behind the design is drawn from New Zealand's trail hiking huts and wool sheds, ensuring an abundance of natural light and organic finishes.

Since its inception in 2009 by founders Chris Ammermann, Laura Harper Hinton, and Miles Kirby, Caravan has gained popularity for its unique fusion of wholesome food, drink, and coffee culture.

With eight successful sites across London, a flagship roastery, and an additional restaurant, Vardo, in Chelsea, this expansion marks the next chapter for the group.

We are so excited to be taking Caravan on the road to Manchester, but more importantly, we are really looking forward to spending more time in this incredible city. - Laura Harper-Hinton

Laura Harper Hinton expressed her excitement about bringing Caravan to Manchester, saying: "We're thrilled to be establishing our presence in Manchester – it's a city with a rich cultural heritage and a thriving food scene."

Mike Ingall of Allied London, the development team behind St John's, shared his enthusiasm: "Caravan is one of those rare businesses that has managed to blend a relaxed coffee house culture with a wholesome food, drink, and restaurant offering, all while maintaining its distinctive coffee focus."

The opening hours will be from 8 am on weekdays and 9 am at weekends.

Stay tuned for more updates on the grand opening.

This expansion marks an important milestone for Caravan as they continue to grow and share their unique culinary experience beyond London's borders.
