Owner of Quality Chop House to open Bonham’s Auction House Restaurant

Friday, April 12, 2019

The Woodhead Restaurant Group has decided to take on the site which was previously the home to Bonham’s, a Michelin-starred restaurant that closed in December, within the auction house of the same name, and plans to relaunch the space as a 40-cover café and wine bad, and a 30-cover restaurant with a North Italian inspired menu named Emilia, after the region of Emilia-Romagna.

The team will be led by Stuart Andrew who currently is the head chef of Clipstone and will be acting as the executive chef across both of the new restaurants.

The upstairs restaurant will have a menu split into snacks, antipastis, first and second courses and a pasta section with a table display of the day’s desserts and cheeses.

There will be an everyday wine list on the back of the menus, and will have a separate ‘Auction List’ featuring a selection of over 100 rare bottles sourced by the Master of Wine and head of Bonham’s wine department, Richard Harvey.

The former Bonham’s restaurant shut after the 225 year old auction house was sold to Epris, a private equity firm.

Emilia is due to open at the end of the month.
