Record High for Scottish Employment Rates

Wednesday, June 12, 2019

The employment rates in Scotland have reached the highest rate ever recorded, with a result of unemployment rates decreasing, according to labour market statistics.  It has been found that nationwide, wages have risen by 3.4% compared to last year and that 75% of those in Scotland aged between 16 and 64 were in employment between the months of February and March this year, though caution still stands with the uncertainty of the job losses that could come as a result of Brexit.

Another record high statistic came from women in employment throughout the UK, reaching 72%.

Employment minister, Jamie Hepburn, is happy about the consistency and how well the performance within Scotland’s economy and job market have been, and that the commitment to fair work for all has been reflected in these results.
