Trade bodies propose 'workable framework' for Scotland's hospitality industry

Thursday, October 29, 2020

UKHospitality Scotland, the Scottish Licensed Trade Association, The Scottish Beer and Pub Association and The Scottish Hospitality Group have written to the Scottish Government on the Scottish Government Strategic setting for the next six months in the hospitality sector.

Increased restrictions will require increased support from companies.

Four trade groups have put forward a range of important items ahead of a debate on the Scottish Government's strategic framework, which will set the courteous course for the coming six months.

Financial assistance in the form of grants will not be sufficient.

Four groups UKHospitality Scotland, the Scottish Licensed Trade Association, Scottish Beer and Pub Association and Scottish Hospitality Group are also seeking confirmation about how the Job Support Scheme will work, saying sectors including music and entertainment venues, night clubs and conference centres that will not be open need to be supported.

The letter also calls for the Scottish Government to ensure that it does not place longer restrictions than necessary, and to regularly re-examine all of its actions.

The four groups UKHospitality Scotland, the Scottish Licensed Trade Association, Scottish Beer and Pub Association and Scottish Hospitality Group say that measures need to be considered regularly with a clear road map for where areas that face local closures could work to get rid of the restrictions.

The sector has confirmed their willingness to offer additional concessions in order to allay the objections of both the MSPs and the Scottish Government.
